AI script writing: from one line to a script, then tear it apart
The hard part of writing a script with AI isn't getting it to write. It's turning the draft into something good, and knowing which line starts costing credits. This page follows the lessons in Nova Academy to show how Nova's writers' room works. Every step has a lesson number, and 04-01 is free once you sign up.
1. Pick what you're writing and type one line
The writers' room starts by asking what you're writing: Feature Film, Micro Film, Series, Short Drama, Commercial, Interactive, or Not sure yet. Then type one line, like "I want to film robots vs zombies".

Know this: your first line starts the writing. The head writer opens by drafting the series Bible, characters and outline. It isn't small talk.
→ Lesson 04-01 "One line becomes a script — then tear it apart for free" (free). You finish with a complete 3-minute script, with its series Bible, characters and outline.
2. Only writing costs credits
In the writers' room, chatting, asking questions, having it read your draft and having it review are all free. Only an actual writing turn is charged: a full document is 80, one section is 40. The opening turn writes several documents in a row, and each one is charged. The writers' room doesn't show your balance; check the project page header.
→ Lesson 04-04 "The writers' room: how the staged conversation runs, and which line starts costing"
3. Five reviewers, free
Once it's written, don't rush to rewrite. The writers' room has five reviewers, and none of them charge:
- Quick check: one read-through
- Full logic red team: attacks in rounds, and you can watch the problems shrink
- Braintrust: names root causes, no prescriptions
- Consultant: checks facts and cites sources
- Dialogue doctor: fixes how people talk

After a review, the button that applies the changes shows a number: that's how many episodes would be rewritten, not credits. You're only charged when you tell the head writer to make the changes, and then by the number of rewriting rounds it actually runs, 40 a round, not by the number of episodes. If a change makes it worse, tell it to go back, and it restores the version from before.
→ Lesson 04-05 "The writers' room: Braintrust, red team or quick check — reviews are free, applying them costs"
4. Not sure what to change? Hold a meeting
You can talk it over with the team in the discussion room: listening, whiteboard and meeting notes are all free. Afterwards, when you put the assistant to work on what was agreed, the actual writing is charged.
→ Lesson 04-06 "The writers' room: the discussion room — the door that costs nothing"
5. Script dragging? Check the pace first
If the script drags, run a story pace check: it only diagnoses, doesn't rewrite, and costs you nothing. To speed it up you can set the pace to "fast", which means a faster story, not faster speech. If you only want to set the pace and not have it write yet, say so plainly.
→ Lesson 04-07 "The story pace check, and the new "fast" setting"
6. Shoot it, or export it
You can carry the script straight on in Nova to characters, storyboard and rendering, or export it and shoot it anywhere. The script itself exports to Final Draft or Fountain; the Bible and outline export as text.

Two things that catch people out: the dialogue language is locked to the script, so whatever language the script is in is the language the characters speak on screen; and regenerating on the script page replaces your script rather than saving a copy.
FAQ
Can I shoot an AI-written script as is? You can, but have the reviewers go over it first. Reviews are free, and you decide what changes.
How many credits does it take to write a script with AI? Each document written is 80, one section is 40. The opening turn writes the series Bible, characters and outline, and each counts. Chatting, questions, reviews and meetings are free.
What if I already have a script? Skip the writers' room and import it. See "A script you've already written" in the AI filmmaking workflow.
